On our second part of the series we come commonly come across people who are frequently doing more fast work in the build up to the end of the year. Hair is clipped from the bottom of the neck and belly, and in a strip along the shoulder and hindquarters.

– Suitable for: Horses in medium-to-light work, such as those competing infrequently or those hacked out often.

– The good: Much of the coat is left on meaning horses with this Trace clip can be turned out without heavy rugging, and are well protected from skin conditions such as mud fever.

-The bad: As only a small area is clipped, horses should be monitored carefully when being worked to ensure they are not overheating.
